Expedition Intern: Trauma at General Memorial.

Doing a clinical internship at a hospital is a traditional part of a medical education. In a clinical setting a student has to apply all they learned while in class and laboratory settings, plus deal with a variety of unexpected situations and individuals. Even if the student is specializing in a specialty area they are expected to cross-train amongst many functional areas. As interns they will have to interface with first responders, doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and other hospital staff as well as patients and their family and friends. Nothing is ever textbook at General Memorial Hospital and tonight a major incident has occurred. The interns must prepare their area for an onslaught of patients, triage incoming wounded, treat an ever increasing number of patients and accurately manage their follow-up care. The number and types of injuries are unknown; it will be the job of the intern to identify types and severities of the wounds as well as treat the wounded and assist various hospital staff with tasks and quests. The interns will have to use their clinical and personal skills and knowledge as well as cope with human behavior challenges such as patient actions and unexpected behaviors from by-standers and family members. They will also have to deal with supply shortages and problems with communication and malfunctioning equipment.
